What is the EUDI Wallet?

The European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) is a secure mobile app, approved by your country. It stores your documents digitally and you decide who sees which data.

How it Works

In 3 simple steps.

Izdaja → denarnica → preverjanje
  1. 01

    Receive a document

An official issuer, such as a government body or a bank, or a private provider securely issues a document to your wallet.

  2. 02

    Stored on your phone

The document is stored on your phone, protected by a passcode or biometrics.

  3. 03

    Show it when needed

When you identify yourself or share a document, you only share the necessary data (selective disclosure), and the recipient can verify it instantly.

How it fits your current eID

Many EU countries already offer a national digital ID. The European Digital Identity Wallet builds on that – one wallet for the whole EU.

Your national eID proves who you are within your own country. The EUDI Wallet extends that approach across the EU: alongside your ID card it will hold many other documents that you can use securely, even across borders. It stays voluntary, and your physical documents remain valid.

Today: your national eID

A country-specific way to prove your identity online and in person.

Tomorrow: the EUDI Wallet

One wallet that works across every EU country and holds many credential types.

eIDAS 2.0 Regulation

eIDAS 2.0 is the EU regulation that introduces the EUDI Wallet and requires every member state to offer it to its residents.

eIDAS 2.0 succeeds the 2014 eIDAS 1.0 regulation, which introduced digital certificates but had some shortcomings.
